About the Camera
How Long Does the Paper Shoot Camera Last?
Paper Shoots are built to last years. With the proper care and materials, like rechargeable AAA batteries and a properly formatted SD card up to 128GB, your Paper Shoot will last as long as you want it to.
Wouldn’t a camera made from paper fall apart?
- Nope! Don’t be fooled by the name - the “paper” only refers to the outer casing and isn’t exactly what you’re thinking! The Paper Shoot is encased in stone paper, which is a highly durable material made from pressed limestone and biodegradable resin. It is water resistant, drop resistant, and just as durable as plastic casing; it’s just good for the planet!

Why Paper Shoot?
What is a Paper Shoot for?
Paper Shoot is the perfect sustainable alternative to disposable, film, and other digital cameras. It is curated in its design, experience, and photo aesthetic to emulate film, digitally and sustainably. If you love the idea of using film but aren’t fond of the ongoing costs and constantly developing, this is perfect for you
Why wouldn’t I just use my phone?
Using your phone to take photos is a personal choice - if you’re happy with your phone, go for it! Our customers love Paper Shoot because it gives them the opportunity to unplug. It allows us to take a much-needed break from our screens while still having the ability to capture memories and live in the moment. The Paper Shoot is not an alternative to phones in any capacity - they are only alternatives for film and disposables.
Why wouldn’t I use a film or disposable camera?
Using a disposable or film camera instead of the Paper Shoot is a personal choice. There is no right or wrong answer - the camera market has something for everyone. What draws people to Paper Shoot over disposables particularly is their added features of additional filters, video and timelapse, their sustainability and reusability, and the cost - the Paper Shoot is a one-time, completely reusable purchase that allows you to take unlimited photos with no developing or printing needed. Disposables, on the other hand, average between $15-$20 a camera, plus $15-$20 developing for only 27 photos! You’d only need to go through 3-4 disposable cameras to make up for the price of one Paper Shoot, which you’ll have for years and can take as many photos as you want!
Why wouldn’t I use a DSLR?
Whatever type of camera works for you is the best choice! There are different varieties and choices for different types of people, and there is no wrong answer. The Paper Shoot is not meant to emulate DSLRs - we are not trying to mimic the quality, experience, and technology. If you’re looking for a higher-tech camera, then go for it! There are tons of great cameras on the market that will work perfectly for you. The Paper Shoot is purposefully simplistic and minimal, digitally emulating 35mm film.
How it Works
How does the Paper Shoot work?
The Paper Shoot is entirely digital! It runs on AAA rechargeable batteries and 128GB SD cards. Using the USB-C cable that comes with your camera, you can recharge your camera whenever and continually empty and reuse your SD card, meaning you can take unlimited photos. Camera specs are available under the “specs’ tab on each product page.
How do I take video or timelapse?
To take a video on your Paper Shoot, plug it into a portable charger, switch to the third filter, and press the shutter button. It will take a 10-second video! To take a timelapse, repeat the same steps but switch to the fourth filter. Let your camera take photos for 30 minutes for a 10-second timelapse! You can also purchase a video/timelapse function card to eliminate the need for an external power source.
How do I access my photos?
There are a few different ways to see your photos! Since the Paper Shoot runs entirely on SD cards, you only need to plug your USB cable into your computer! Alternatively, you can purchase a Wifi SD card, which will allow you to see your photos without a cable, or you can purchase a phone-SD card adapter to download Paper Shoot photos directly to your phone.
Does Paper Shoot have a flash?
While the Paper Shoot does not currently have a built-in flash, we have a detachable ring light! Rather than creating a new camera with the flash upgrade, we wanted to create an option allowing any customer access to a flash for their camera. If you’ve previously purchased a camera and would like the flash attachment, just ensure that you have a screw-ring case to attach it properly.
Battery Safety
How do the batteries work in the camera?
All of our cameras pass the CE & FCC safety certifications. Our cameras are built to adhere to all battery safety standards and are programmed to shut down if provided too much power. When the batteries are being charged within our camera while using our charging cable the cameras have a safety measure that stops the charging cycle when fully charged. If choosing to remove the batteries to charge them outside of the camera, always ensure you are charging them with a device that automatically stops the charge current once charging is complete.
It is important to follow all the manufacturer’s battery safety guidelines closely, these may include but are not limited to:
- Make sure the battery compartment is clear of lint and dust before inserting the batteries and while batteries are inserted.
- If not using the camera for long periods of time, take the batteries out and store them safely.
- Make sure the positive and negative sides of the batteries are facing the correct side. There is a red light that will go off indicating if the batteries inside the camera are inserted incorrectly.
- Do not let the camera or batteries get wet. If the camera and batteries come into contact with water, open the camera, remove the batteries, and let the device and batteries dry naturally (do not use heat to dry the camera or batteries)
- Store batteries away from anything flammable and not within direct sunlight.
- Keep out of extreme heat and do not let the batteries come in contact with anything metal like keys or coins.
- If using incorrect batteries or faulty batteries that are leaking battery fluid, please remove the batteries, wipe the fluid from the battery bay, and let it dry naturally. Dispose of the batteries safely.
- If batteries begin to overheat, you notice an odor, change in shape/color, the batteries appear to be leaking, or odd noises are heard from a device discontinue use immediately.
** Batteries purchased on papershootcamera.com are not manufactured by Paper Shoot Camera - For additional information about batteries , please contact the manufacturer at http://www.bonaipower.com/ **

What do flashing lights and error noises mean?
Flashing lights and error noises mean one of two things: your batteries are either dead, the wrong ones for the camera, or there’s an issue with your SD card. Please ensure you’re using AAA Rechargeable Batteries and a properly formatted SD card up to 128GB.
